Small States and the EU: Issues and Expectations

Manchester, 23 November 2001
Ref: 0137

This conference, which is sponsored by UACES, focuses on a key issue associated with EU enlargement: the increasing number and the growing influence of small states in the EU. What is the experience of EU membership of existing small member states, what are the expectations and hopes of applicant small states, and what are the implications for the EU itself of membership increasingly being made up of small states?

There will be speakers - practitioners and academics - from both EU institutions and existing and prospective small member states.
