Evaluating the Swedish EU Presidency

The conference will be a two-day event with the first day focusing exclusively on the Swedish EU Council Presidency. The first day has sessions on the organisation, structure and functions of the Presidency, on the policy achievements of the Presidency including detailed discussions of the ‘3 E’s’ (Enlargement, Environment and Employment) and Swedish policy towards the ‘Euro’ as well as debates on the domestic impact of the Presidency on Swedish politics. The second day, which is organised jointly under the auspices of the UACES Study Group on the EU Northern Dimension, will include sessions focusing on Swedish policy towards the EU Northern Dimension, the Baltic Sea and Russia as well as a comparative assessment of Nordic approaches towards the EU Northern Dimension.

Mr Axel Wernhoff, Deputy Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Stockholm has recently confirmed that he will be able to join an exciting list of speakers (please see the programme below).
