The EU, the Baltic States and the Northern Dimension

The three Baltic States - Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania - are currently negotiating terms of entry to the European Union. Meanwhile they, the Nordic countries and Russia have been involved in the EU's Northern Dimension which is aimed at increasing co-operation between members and non-members alike in the northern regions of the Europe. This conference, on the first day, will examine some of the prospects and difficulties facing the Baltic States in their negotiations and, on the second day, will look at the main developments in the Northern Dimension Initiative, some national perspectives and prospects for the future.
